Faith has spent her life educating people about the ocean through her love and enthusiasm for diving. Whether as a biology teacher, Dive Master, dive store retailer, charter operator, equipment manufacturer and distributor, or expedition leader, she inspires people and instils in them a passion for the ocean in all its forms. Starting as a technical diver and public safety volunteer in the late 80’s, Faith was one of the few women involved in pushing the envelope to explore including the discovery of 6 shipwrecks in the Northeast. In early 1990’s as a dive retailer, she worked with Diving Unlimited International (DUI) to develop the first women’s drysuits so women would have better equipment to explore the coldest oceans in the world.
After going to work with DUI in 1997, she developed innovative demo programs to expose thousands of people to diving dry in their local diving environment. In 17 years, over 80,000 people had the opportunity to try drysuits in a safe environment, and drysuits became a standard piece of equipment for recreational divers in cooler waters. She also developed training programs to increase safety for professional divers who are at risk when diving in contaminated water. More than 1500 diving professionals participated in this free training. These industry leading programs led to the development of new standards in public safety diving for contaminated water diving.
After working with DUI for 21 years, she continues to share her passion for the ocean with others by increasing awareness of our most fragile marine ecosystems. As co-owner of Blue Green Expeditions, she regularly leads expeditions to all 7 oceans focusing on success stories in marine conservation and remote pristine environments. Since her first expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctica in 2010, she has become an outspoken advocate for protection of the polar regions and has led more than 25 expeditions to the poles. In 2024, she organized and led the first expedition to Antarctica 100% devoted to citizen science and marine science education. The program produced data for 3 different scientific research projects, multiple live streams to classrooms from Antarctica, and a VR educational program for young people. More than $60,000 was raised for multiple charities that provide scholarships for young people interested in marine careers. A documentary on citizen science and its role in changing the future is in post-production and due to be released in 2026.
She is a 2010 inductee to the Women Divers Hall of Fame.
