February 2024 represents the 150th anniversary of the HMS Challenger’s crossing of the southern polar circle. This expedition is to honor their contribution to our understanding of the world’s oceans while simultaneously exploring Antarctica. This will be an incredible adventure! Here we will pool our resources and time to assist scientists and imagemakers in adding to our understanding of the Antarctic region…as well as getting our own adventure – in Antarctica!

This adventure focuses on exploring new territory as well as incredible animal interactions and dynamic ice conditions. You can hardly get a better experience of Antarctica than a voyage to the great Weddell Sea. Be prepared to see massive tabular icebergs, wildly dramatic landscapes, and fascinating historical sites. Our journey will take place on the 200th anniversary of the discovery of the Weddell Sea! We are going to be doing the first recreational diving expedition into the inner part of Weddell Sea. Most of the diving will be in places no one has ever been before! As a special treat, Becky Schott from Liquid Productions will be onboard and will be teaching image making workshops.

Join Faith Ortins from Blue Green Expeditions and other polar diving specialists and photographers on an amazing expedition to Antarctica! We arrive February 5th in Ushuaia, Argentina for an overnight stay as well as a day tour of Tierra Del Fuego National Park before embarking on our journey aboard the majestic m/v Plancius to Antarctica. We will sail through the Drake Passage tracing the path of the early polar explorers who first braved these regions. Along the way, we will see Humpback and Minke whales breaching in the sea as well as albatrosses and many other birds that will accompany us on our journey. We will tour glaciers and icebergs on zodiac cruises exploring areas few people have ever seen before. Amongst the epic landscape of mammoth glaciers and wind carved snow live colonies of thousands of penguins nesting on these islands. Divers will experience the opportunity to swim with penguins and leopard seals as well as seeing the unique invertebrate life of Antarctica.
